Lady GaGa – Poker Face (Glam As You Radio Mix)

Dave Schmid | April 29, 2009 | 10:10 PM

I didn’t want to like this song. Really. I saw Lady GaGa popping up on a few of my Top 40 lists and skipped passed it during my 5 second listen test. It just so happens that I heard the chorus of this song on the radio a few days while driving to the airport (GASP!! The RADIO!!) and I’ve been hooked with finding a way to get it out of my head ever since.

Lady GaGa - Poker Face (Glam As You Radio Mix)

Tonight I even spent a few minutes finding remixes and videos to see what she’s all about:

Stefani Germanotta (born March 1986 in New York, U.S.A.), also known by her stage name Lady Gaga, is an American singer-songwriter dance-pop, electronica musician signed to Interscope Records. Born into a Italian-American family and growing up in Manhattan’s Lower East side Germanotta attended the Convent of the Sacred Heart School. Having learned piano by ear at the age of four, Germanotta went on to write her first piano ballad at thirteen and began performing at open mic nights by the age of fourteen. At the age of seventeen she gained early admission to the Tisch School of the Arts at NYU, where she studied music. By age twenty she began writing songs for Interscope Records artists, such as the Pussycat Dolls, also she recently declared that she wrote two songs for the upcoming Britney Spears album.

Hey… I can’t complain with music chops like that… Especially knowing my penchant for bubblegum pop songs. I’ll eventually get a few minutes to pass through her debut album, The Fame, to see if there are any other songs to my liking. I mean, now with Poker Face number one on quite a few charts – I’m sure I’m behind the curve onĀ  this… (I really do need to start getting updates online sooner rather than later!)

So enjoy a bit of your own song sample here:

Or with the obligatory “Official HQ Video“…

John Kano – I’m Done With The Pain (Featuring Sarah Mattea) (Bellatrax Radio Edit)

Dave Schmid | February 15, 2009 | 3:00 PM

John Kano - I'm Done With The Pain (Featuring Sarah Mattea) (Bellatrax Radio Edit)I’ve been listening to XM Radio since 2005… Mostly since it came with my Acura TL and for the last 3 years, I’ve renewed in in my RL as well. Especially helpful considering that for the last four years I’ve been able to use the “I want the $77 for 12 month deal” to keep its costs inline. However, most of the time I’m listening to MP3 CDs so XM is only really helpful for longer road trips with my wife (she loves the 70′s station) and before XM pulled the plug on E!

The crux of this story is more related to a few weeks ago while I was flipping around on my 12 XM presets. I hit on BPM long enough to grab a listen to “I’m Done With The Pain” and was mesmerized by the bass line. Love the sine-wave bass lines.

So while finding anything on John Kano proved minimal, at least there’s a somewhat cheesy video of this song on YouTube:

Along with my own song sample:

Granted – more focused on Sarah Mattea than John Kano (heck – even the image on here is of Sarah!) – hopefully you’ll feel the need to add this track to your collection…

Thundercats Movie Trailer

Dave Schmid | December 23, 2008 | 12:06 PM

While flipping through the “What’s Popular” on YouTube this morning I came across a pretty amazing Fan-made trailer for Thundercats. I chuckled to myself when I watched it thinking “A little corny…” – Then a bit further into the trailer I realized that it was made from other film clips. Hats off to WormyT on some pretty fantastic video skills…

Perhaps Cheetara could get an Angelina Jolie “Tomb Raider” make-over! LOL – At least I recognized Farscape’s Gigi Edgley in there…

Forth of July Fireworks

Dave Schmid | July 8, 2008 | 8:04 AM

With fold out chairs and brownies, we enjoyed a third year of fireworks at Chesterfield Mall. While better than last year (but not quite as good as our first year) – our new Casio EX-S10 digital camera not only took pretty decent fireworks pictures… It made a pretty decent video of the finale as well! So in my first ever YouTube upload, I’ll let you enjoy the fireworks as well!

(Next year I’ll add music…)
